Anthony Eid


Biography

Anthony Eid is serving his third term on the Student Senate; and currently serves as President. Previously, Eid held the position of Director of Public Relations and Senator at Large. Elected to three terms by his peers; Eid has been a model of consistency for the senate. He graduated in 2015 with a B.S. in Biology and a B.S. in Psychology. Eid is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Medical Science at Wayne State's Medical School and continues to work towards his dream of becoming a Physician. Eid plans to continue at WSU as a member of the medical school class of 2021

As President,he is overseeing election reform and is working to increase and organize the amount of institutional power that the Student Senate wields, as well as implementing transition strategies for future senates.

Eid has been a part of many successes during his time with the senate. During the 2016-2017 term; Eid used the Senate’s Board of Governors vote to implement the 30% summer tuition discount for students permanently into the university budget.

During the 2015-2016 term Eid severed as chair on the Diversity and Inclusion project group, which successfully lobbied for the hire of an LGBTQ coordinator within the Office of Multicultural Student Engagement, and oversaw the implementation of the Preferred Name system for students.

During the 2014-2015 term, Eid was elected to the Executive Board. He served on the Smoke Free Initiative, which helped promote a culture of health by making the university smoke and Tabaco free. The Student Evaluation of Teaching Initiative, which resulted in the public release of SET results on classschedule.wayne.edu. The ECAS committee, which helped with the improvement of the WSU email system transition to Office 365, as well as providing Office 365 to all students for free.

Eid's undergraduate career was defined by being a leader in a multitude of areas. Anthony was able to challenge himself by obtaining two degrees and joining two research labs to contribute to the educational community at WSU. Eid joined a robust amount of student organizations with the goal of helping others. These include spending four years as an RA, tutoring other students both in their studies and as a mentor, the Not for Sale campaign, and many more. In the community, Eid has volunteered in the DMC hospital system and provided care to low income residents of the Detroit community. Eid was awarded the 2016 Dr. Arthur L. Johnson Community Leadership Individual Award to commemorate his contributions to WSU and the Metro Detroit community.
