Lighting Around Campus

Date Posted: September 27, 2009
Student Council has been working on getting more lighting around campus.

Current efforts involve the implementation of improved lighting along Cass Ave on the campus.

Where can lighting be better utilized?

I think there needs to be more lighting around Old main or just mainly around the streets surronding WSU. I think the lighting around most of the campus is great, there just isnt alot along the main roads

Cass Ave. can be pretty dark. The street lights seem to be sometimes on and sometimes off, what's up with that?

Canfield, especially along the way towards the medical school. Students walk from UT and nearby apartments all the time, and in the early morning or late evening/night, there are places where there is literally no light.

I live in the area and walk to classes - I would like to see the walking pathes on campus to be fully light at night and I would appreciate it is WSU would do all they can to ensure the lights on the streets around campus are well lite as well - I realize that working with the City is difficult at times, but this is a serious safety concern for many - thank you

The lighting going from the Art Department building past the student union out to Anthony Wayne Drive to parking structure 2 at night is pretty bad. Especially where gullen mall meets between the art building, library, and union, it is especially dark at night. I think the walking paths on campus should be lit up like a football stadium at night. Low lighting does not help. It is very scary to be walking out to your car at 9pm at night with low lights and no visible police presence in that area.

Everywhere needs more lighting.

Yeah, the whole campus needs to be lit up properly. Even in the "well-lit" areas its very dark, and other lights are simply burnt-out and not replaced.

Every light on 2nd st. from Warren to about the Brox bar has been out for months now. Those lights need to be replaced. That area is a high traffic area.
