I agree the 3rd floor UGL Quiet Study area should be better enforced. They should not let your over due fees go up, up, up without alerting you that the books are overdue. Sometimes students forget to return books and the day after it's due, an email should be sent to them. I had fees accumulate for videos that exceeded the cost of the video but they would not let me just pay for the video and keep it.
With the recent concern of the swine flu, and getting sick around the colder seasons in general, I think it would help to make some sanitizing products more available and visible around the library. Not just a bottle of sanitizer at the front desk, or simply going to the restrooms (because some of them are not maintained at all). I noticed how recently they have those quick sanitizer machines around the entrances of buildings like State Hall or Old Main. I don't think I saw one around the libraries, but even if there already is, they should be more accessible. I think it would help prevent some of the germs going around, especially with the keyboards.
To go with all this concern for hygiene, regarding swine flu, generic flu, or anything else, perhaps some better enforcement to keep people from eating at computers would be useful.
The 3rd Floor is a horrible place to study when you need peace and quiet. Noise from the second and first floor seeps in. The security guards do not do much when people are talking up on the 3rd floor. I found a better place to study when I am at the UGL, usually feels more quiet than the 3rd floor.
I agree with the idea to add more art in the libraries. I think that most of the libraries on campus sort of have a corporate feel, and for a dynamic creative student it can get pretty dull fairly quickly. There are many creative and artistic students on campus why not feature the work of students with a student art show?
Comments:
Please make it more livelier and more engaging by adding/painting color, putting up more art and more cozier sitting area.
The "quiet Study" on the 3rd floor of the UGL is anything but that.
AMEN to that! I refuse to go there any more because of the atmosphere that is allowed to thrive.

I think also that WSU needs to offer more resources. I loathe electronic books and I wish they would just purchase real actual books.
